As you know, on March 29, 2020, the Government issued a new Royal Decree-Law, establishing a recoverable and compulsory paid leave, between March 30 and April 9, inclusive, to all workers in companies whose activity It was no longer paralyzed by the declaration of the state of alarm, in addition to all the regulations issued in recent weeks regarding the state of alarm caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In accordance with our interpretation of the new Royal Decree, we want to share with you the most relevant points that affect our daily work at Direct Telecom.
The Direct Telecom staff continue to perform at 100% with our functions, as we had been doing before this new decree, since our activity (telecommunications companies) is within those declared as essential services. Likewise, all our staff are teleworking from their respective homes.
All contracting personnel, dedicated to network operation and maintenance, installation, courier services and logistics services, who work for and with Direct Telecom are also not affected by the new Royal Decree Law and are therefore completely operational. In fact, we have been working continuously for weeks on improving and expanding network capacity, in order to ensure the highest quality of service in the face of the great increase in demand, both in mobile and data communications via ADSL. and Fibre.
Office/Shop staff. The recoverable and compulsory paid leave does not apply under section 1 of the Annex to the applicable Royal Decree-Law, which expressly exempts workers from activities that must continue to be carried out in accordance with the provisions of art. 10.1 of RD 463/2020 by which the state of alarm was declared. Let us remember that the referred art. 10.1 allowed to keep retail commercial establishments of technological and telecommunications equipment open.
